Selectmen’s Meeting of May 3, 1999
Present: Chairman Jones, Judy Murdoch, Cathy Kuchinski. (Flynn and Webster arrived later for Town Meeting) Location: Town Meeting at the New Middle School.
I. Jones called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Discussion regarding the Parks and Fields Article which was being held by the Board of Selectmen for the Funding Source. According to the Town Accountant the source will be Free Cash. Motion by Murdoch to recommend the Parks and Fields Article for $17000 to come from free cash, 2nd by Kuchinski. 3-0 Vote.
II. Discussion regarding Article 24 for the South Shore Women’s Center asking for $4,000. We have not heard from them to explain the article. Motion by Kuchinski to recommend the article for $3,500, 2nd by Murdoch. 3-0 Vote.
III Discussion - Master Plan Article - the article was reduced to $10,000
Motion to recommend the article by Kuchinski, 2nd by Murdoch. 3-0 Vote.
IV. The Planning Board was present to discuss Article 34 regarding the paper streets. Nugent spoke with Town Counsel who sent a letter stating that it should be submitted as a zoning article instead of the General Bylaws. Lindquist would like to debate this article tonight if we wait permits will continue to be issued and the reason it is in the bylaws is to give enforcement to the Police Department. Kuchinski stated that if the Attorney General makes changes to the Article it can be presented with the Changes at the October Special Town Meeting. After some discussion the Board decided to continue the meeting until tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at the Middle School.
7:30 p.m. Town Meeting began.
